Were your dive planes or rudder damaged? I remember once my dive planes were destroyed and after fixing all the damage I could I went submerged at periscope depth. I looked at the external camera and had to laugh... I was travelling along at a 45 degree angle with my bow sticking out of the water! It was back to base after that
