Following a sinking... the color of the ship sunk icon does return... ergo you will know the moment a ship is sunk as to whether or not you screwed up.
Regarding the failure of tonnage to be properly posted to your career... this is a STOCK SH3 bug...
not a GW bug. It happens periodically... nothing we can do about it.
