I am under the impression that it would be economically better for England and Worse for Scotland. However it is a very popular idea in Scotland and also among some people in England.
Mabye it would solve problems or it could create more.
What do people think?

Its one of those amusing sideshows in British politics that comes up when the government in Westminster is unpopular. It last happened in the mid nineties (remember Braveheart) and was tauted before that in the seventies.
But when it comes to elections and the Scottish public actually look at the finer details of the debate, they begin to notice serious problems. Scotlands position in the world, the loss of a large amount of resource distribution from the rest of the UK. The Scottish National Party claims that it can fund a Scottish economy on North Sea Oil - and publishes figures to prove it. The problem is, the figures come from studies of oil reserves made in the 1970's and the oil has long gone by now.
In Wales its the same debate, but the answers Plaid Cymru (the Welsh Nationalist party) come up with are equally rediculious. They claim there is a resource only found in Wales that they can sell to the English that will fund the Welsh economy - Dyhydrogen Monoxide
