Given the global corporate nature of most markets these days, especialy the entertainment media, such a suggestion would be not only meaningles but disingenuous. Given the number of American people who make a living in all the aspects of such industries in general, and the specific individuals work in particular. The inherent concept seeming to indicate that status and sucess buys silence from critical obsevation. Given that many people have achieved success in a world where many nations have aspects of their cultures weather social or political which people are equaly critical of to trivial or major degrees. Is the idea that people should only be critical on places which haven't contributed towared their overall staus etc. Perhaps a sliding scale based on sales figures or box office recipts.
Perhaps it might have been more palatable if the comments had come from an American personality.
