Moin,
  1. donīt know, never modded an acft before
  2. texture coordinates are stored in the *.obj file itself. You donīt have to worry about. The *.mtl file that is created when exporting to *.obj only carries the data needed to assign Multi/SubObjectMaps. Some versions of Pack3D seem to import these data not properly. You may fix it using the hex editor. (early stage of my actual project)
  3. You may choose any resolution you like, just keep them square.
  4. Donīt worry about them now. Your unit will work without altering them in the first place. Since almost no one will see them ever itīs just for your ego if you change them, except youīd like to add "specials".
  5. Most probably YES.
