One must not forget that Dönitz was a convinced Nazi and hes was the last leader of Nazi Germany. I guess he can be lucky he was only sentenced to 10 years in prison. |
Doenitz was charged on counts 1,2 & 3 he was found not guilty on count 1 but guilty on counts 2 & 3, Doenitz would have been hung for his crime. The man who saved him from being hung was Nimitz's who stated he gave the same order of waging unrestricted submarine warfare.
