Not personally/directly, but my dad did command a YP (Yard Patrol) craft for the USN for a bit during World War II, patrolling for subs off the US coast, before heading for Okinawa in '45. If I see any patrol craft off the coast during my drumbeat patrols I always turn tail and slink away, just in case (wouldn't want to inadvertently mess up the timeline
