If you get a new mobo then you will need to backup all you have now before installing it. And in doing so will neccessetate the reinstall of XP. Plus you might have to call MS and explain the problem so they will let you use your XP cd and not buy a new copy.

Tho hopefully you'll have the XP OS on a separate partition. All your files will be ok except XP.
