on Oct. 31, 1943(hollween) The USS Borie entered into a ver intereting battle with the U-405. The two ships where locked in close combat after U-405 was blown to the surface. And when I say close I mean close like stuck together. The crew of the Borie came on deck with tommyguns and 45's to attack the U-Boat crew who maned there guns. One sailer took a sheath knife and therw it at a crewmen maning a gun in the U-Boat hiting him in the gut. A Chief on the DD took a spent spent 4-inch shell and threw it at another crewmember and nocked the man into the water. Talk about a interisting battle.
