And range, you just can't get to the North Atlantic hunting grounds in one with enough fuel to get home. I had a type II for about six patrols out of Kiel hunting mainly in the North Sea. I managed to earn enough renown to get myself a type VIIC which is far superior in range, speed and firepower.
