Shortly after I got the game I was doing a patrol in October, 1939. I was in U-52, a trusty VIIB U-boat. I had served my 24 hours in my ordered grid so I decided to head up to Scapa Flow. I had been there before only to find a bunch of destroyers on patrol and one empty harbor. I was expecting the same thing this round. However, fate had something else in mind. When I entered the harbor I could hardly believe my eyes. There was an Illustrious carrier and not one, but two auxiliary cruisers! I had enough torpedoes to sink all three! That was one of my best patrols.
On the other hand, SH3 can be downright mean. I had upgraded to U-405 and decided to take a stint in the Med. I was on patrol when I picked up a hydrophone contact. Turns out it was a task force. I was in a bad position. No way was I going to catch up. They were doing 25 knots. The task force comprised of a Nelson and two Revenge class BBs. There was also a Dido cruiser. I could do nothing but see my hopes sail away.
