It kind of leaves it to your imagination just they way it is. Maybe they should just show the outside of the U-boat slowing decending into darkness until it is totally black and then it flashes 'mission over' or something to that effect. I don't think watching the inside of the boat as crew screams and scabbles into oblivion is the way to go
