Once you are ready to load the externals. Simply click on it and drag it to the reserve spot and it will start to load. Takes about 10 minutes.
Forward externals can only be loaded into bow reserves and stern externals can only be loaded into stern reserve. Stern cannot be loaded into forward reserve.

Actually it takes a
lot longer than 10 minutes. More like between 60 and 120 minutes. Also, the torpedo won't immediately load into the internal reserve. Instead, it'll grey out and, as time passes, start to blacken. Once the necessary time has elapsed, it'll disappear from the outside and appear inside.
