You have to understand that the crews became brothers because they depended on each other. If one was remiss in his duty the boat could go down with all hands. With that said, this common bond ran deeper than just a brothers in arms type deal. To loose an officer/crew was always a bad deal(unless he sucked...Werner had one removed from his boat because he could not keep trim, he was noob and Werner lost one of his best men). So, I keep my guys that I have developed after each patrol. They have more renown and I do not have to spend time micromanaging a new crew member.
