So, what's the story with this?

Was the IDF giving the god damn UN team their comsec codes?

Was Iran/Syria/Hezbollah just using receivers to pinpoint inter-tank transmissions, and using UCA (unique component analysis) to determine the total force strength (this is based on the theory that no two radios are the exact same, and tiny differences in signal propagation can be detected and catalogued)?


The encryption on these things are fairly tight, and if the codes are changed daily like ours, breaking the algorithm would be some kind of absolute stroke of luck. So all things equal, I'm going to go with UCA and Iranian receivers.

edit: And, I guess, Russia. Russia is like Switzerland -- money from the middle is a lucrative niche. It's probably Russian gear, given to Iran, given to Syria, given to Hezbollah. Our comm systems need a severe overhaul. Interoperability, and operational security through obfuscation.
