Here the way one should determine what to eat:
1. Gather all the different kinds of food and drink that you like to eat.
2. Plot the nutritional values on a Microsoft Excel sheet for all the foods and drinks, and set up a calculation where you enter the weekly number of each food, and then the total calories and other nutritional data is displayed in a new column.
3. Plot a weekly diet to give you balanced nutrion. 2000 calories per day will maintain weight unless you get alot of exercise, in which case you will need more calories. To lose weight, make your weekly diet ahve foods totaling about 1500 calories per day. Based on a calculation I did, this shouls make you lose about a pound per week, more if you get alot of exercise.
4. Using excel, spread the foods out evenly on a weekly grid, so that each day has a reasonably balanced diet.
5. When purchasing food, if one item is unavalible, attempt to substitue a similar item with the same amount of calories.
6. Plot you weight everyday on another Excel sheet, taken at the same time every day.
7. Continue the diet, modifying it if you get sick of certain foods or they become unavalible. Once the desired weight is obtained, switch back to about 2000 calories per day for a couple weeks and check if this maintains weight. If it does, then keep that weekly number. If not then adjust as necessary to prevent additional weight gain or losss.
Using this method, you can be sure that you always get the right number of calories (which are the determinant of weight gain or loss). All other diet methods are crap, since they are unscientific. This method is also superior since you can plot as many different nutrients as you want, to insure a weight maintaining AND a healthy diet.
