I agree, the competition between the two teams is pushing both the mods to really invent something new and cool.
Just think about it, if there would be only one supermod, it would only show one new idea per section (e.g. ship behaviour, enemy AI etc.). But with two separate teams, the community gets more than one view of the subject.
