How fancy do you want to get? There's everything from SNAPSHOTS, to match bearing rate and shoot, to my personal favorite... cleverly spaced spreads of multiple torpedoes intended make escape possible for anyone as far away as the first convergence zone. You need to be able to make a calculator really work for you to pull off the last one.
Torpedoes are very smart little creatures in my experience. When you work out the math, they have the highest search rates of any platform in the game. Given that, it's often best just to dial something rough in and let the torpedo do the work.
