Happens to me all the time.
Sometimes the contact is directly behind you (180 degrees +/-) or directly in front of you 360 degrees +/-). These are the weekest spots for the hydrophone.
Go to the hyrdophone view and manually obtain contact, then click on the check mark on the note page. This usually wakes the operator.
