I assume that the affected players read the SH3Cmdr FAQ, particularly
Q: How do I get real ship names in my Patrol Logs? [EDIT: I've now read the "Ship Names?" thread to which you refer. Proves I should never assume...]
The other reason why ship names FOR SOME SHIPS won't show up in the log is if the ship class hasn't been added to SH3Cmdr's "Ship names.cfg" file. Essentially, this means ANY new ship created since about January this year (apart from two I added for NYGM in R2.6).
I've recently spoken to BBW and expect that this will be corrected somewhat in GWX - it should include an up-to-date version of the file including entries for all the new ships that GWX has added. Still not 100% exhaustive, but still much better than now.
