The above is a link to download bbw's tutorial on placing ports, bases, and lighthouses.

The following link is his tutorial far adding ships to harbors and generaly scripting them into the campaign SCR file.

Both have helped me greatly in adding cities, ports and bases, lighthouses, ships, genaral scripts, etc. It's a combination of using the mission editor and the locations CFG files among others.

You can add any ship out there for download by putting the sea data files in your sh3 sea data folder then placing it's coresponding CFG file in any country's roster folder and adding it to the english names file. the read-me that comes with most ship downloads can walk you through it.

But it takes some time investment--it's better to start with a base campaign file (SCR,LND,RND,CFG locations) from one of the mods out there. My base file was a GW/Uwac combo. Just scripting the North Carolina coast with new cities, harbors , lighthouses, and ports, adding ships to to those harbors then scripting Ship and aircraft waypoionts was enough for me for now(also testing to see if there are no issues with the changes). It's made me appreciate more the effort by the supermods. Also thers a member here (carotio-I think) that has done a new map with a lot of cities added in the areas your talking about-you can possibly download his file and tweak it to your taste.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96859
