Those are good ones. Politics nowadays is all about spin.

You see politicians are supposed to take tough decisions and sometimes it will hurt people, but Labour and the rest want to please all the people all of the time. Hence there will be a plan to build a new airport. It will bring business to the region, it will create good jobs. Instead of doing it they have all these focus groups, they let everyone including the dog have its say. Result it takes 5 years in planning then they complain it is over budget.

Case in point, Dyce Airport, Aberdeen. They wany to extend the runway so bigger planes can get so that they can offer more destinations and with bigger planes, less flights on the same route as smaller planes due to larger capacity. Now it will bring economic benefits as more people will come through Aberdeen, more jobs will be created at the airport, a good thing. Ah, but the people of Dyce are moaning that it will be more noise etc. Well the airport was there before all the houses were. The people who live in them bought them knowing an airport was there. So they can't complain as they are also the kind who want a cheap direct flight to Malaga instead of going to London to change flights. Same thing when they made the airport 24hr so late flights can get in. Also the public are thick when it comes to this, they seem to think slightly bigger plane immediately means noisier.

Arghhhh, once upon a time govt just got on with it and left the public to the stuff that they knew best.
