Default ..end of (my) life

Well I had it coming I guess. I just upgraded to the latest version 42 of Fedora Linux and everything still runs but I've lost all 3d acceleration from my 14 year old Intel HD 3000 graphics chip. I now get about 3fps playing SH3 using the Wine compatibility layer and the computer overheats very easily.
I've had problems like this before with new releases and until now they have always been patched but I think it's the end of the line. Intel walked away about 10 years ago and I think somebody in the community has got tired of providing support. I will try rolling back the Mesa graphics drivers a couple of versions, but it's a bit of a pfaff and likely to cause something else to break.
I will have to use the new Windows 11 machine in my daughter's gaming cave, but she will be on holiday during the summer. Maybe I should force her to get a job? You know, good experience... times are hard... contribute to the family.... save for college...
