What is the best way to use sh3gen do you wiat till you have completed a patrol.go to base then on your next patrol sail out aways then save game alt=tab-out then run your SH3gen then go back into the game.or am i best to save exit out run the program then restart my game.............

You can generate anywhere and get an intelligence update that is valid approximately for the next 14 days from the current day (depends of course on intel setting).
It doesn't matter if you Alt-Tab and generate or exit ShIII completely and restart, this is a matter of circumstances and personal preferences. Some people can't Alt-Tab
