I found the same thing when I used to do flightsims, no such thing as press the quick start button and fly for any Russian origin aircraft mod. Nope, you had to go through the real pre-flight checklist in in order to get the engines and avionics going, and only then could you get your Tupolev or Illyushin off the virtual runway!

Not Russian, but I prefer that as well. Difference between a proper sim and a arcade game pretending to a sim.
