The fact that Erdoğan began the Manbij attack so close to the moment that Al Julani took Damascus may indicate that Erdoğan does not expect to have Al Julani's support for Turkey's ambitions in Syria. Turkey has a very short window of opportunity to change facts in the ground. If Manbij offensive fails, Turkey and SNA will not have good grounds for negotiations, especially starting an offensive after Assad failed and everyone else was celebrating. If Turkish thugs can't get Manbij, follow-up operations will become increasingly unlikely.
