I suspect, it may slow performance a little, but not that much, if you think at FPS!
You may of course have more docking options, but that's not my intention of doing this. First, you must know your history: don't dock a place, where battles are nearby, if your docking harbour is captured by allied while in this base, you may experience CTD, besides you don't get new grid coordinates and can't upgrade, so it's just like milk cows... Second, I did it for the "dive deep into the feeling of being living at that time" experience: you can see the war progress, somtimes from day to day, other times from week to week!

But yes, it is really great. One of the things that got me when I started up my first game of Real U-boat (I think - though now I use Grey Wolves) was the amount of cities included. Not just ports, but in-land cities.
Heh, for the last two missions I created, both of which take place in Norwegian fjords, I've added all the towns and cities on the shores of that particular fjord (thanks to Google Earth:p). It adds so much to reality.

Yes, there are really many cities and towns around the world, but trying to add them all ....

one would NEVER be finished!!!!!

So I just add a percentage of them! I would say, after looking in different atlases of different languages plus war books, I have them placed 80-90% in the right place (SH3 map is not made by Google Earth...), the war progress is 85-95% correct and the change of city names between original and corresponding German names while occupied! All this gives SH3 more atmosphere, I think!
