Hi, I think you need to realise that there is a tiny dev-team. It's literally 3 or 4 chaps, who, I surmise, do it for the love of the thing, producing the very best possible team-game in the field of u-boat warfare, rather than as a purely commercial enterprise. The current open-beta has everything implemented so far working, with the current exceptions of the 4 rotor Enigma, and some outstanding issues with using the recognition manual to determine ranges.

By (crewable) Compartment:

Bow: All 3d modelling done, no physical controls operate, so currently unmanned in game.
Hydrophone: New machine with some more utility during submerged fighting.
Radio: A lot of new 3d radio related items done, with a raisable DF aerial, (no usable DF mechanisms) and other radios, ditto. This is the compartment with the most number of things that need finishing/fixing.
Control room: No material changes except voice-tubes, dive-safe panel of lights, some reworking of other 3d models.
Diesel room: Everything works now, so diesels are operable and can be tuned via flame adjustment to give boat a safe 18.3 knots+.
Emotor room, Everything works, except the "creep mode" switch.

Your best bet would be to find the SUBSIM youtube channel, then watch the WP related training films, to get a guide to everything in detail.

Again, my understanding is outstanding issues will be addressed, but at the moment the chief effort is to rewrite core code which is now outdated, and making the release of new code difficult - as was experienced in when the working engines were initially released on the (previous) beta version. Make no mistake, the game is popular, played a fair bit - I play up to 5, 3hour games a week - and there are a number of good discord servers for various flotillas, in most time-zones. It is most certainly worth the modest cost of the game, even now. You just have to be very patient with the Devs, as it's a tiny group. Again, as I understand it!
