I read that in the UK Bioware roleplaying game Neverwinternights is trailed in some schools over there the game has been toned down, apparently they are finding computer games get kids to want to learn while in class. Bioware changed the quests to give it a group challenge, so far it has been a success with the kids and teachers.
When i use to work for a school over here, my job was to look after the computer suite - I was allowed to put on games and run them on the network, Command and conquer and Age of Empires games were a hit with the kids. We found kids wanted to learn and finished there work if they knew at the end of the day they will get to play a game . Even the real slow/bad behavior kids whom the teachers gave up on, would spring to life when they knew they would get to play command & conquer matchs against there mates at lunch time as long as they did there work and behaved. It gave them a whole new purpose to want to come to school.
