Just to let you know it's not just you!!
i made a Blohm und Voss Bv 138...skinning it proved to be some sort of fruedian nightmare..never even got close ...i've built and skinned dozens of aircraft for flight simulators and i couldn't even begin to understand what the hell was going on with SH3 texture mapping lol!! abandoned it as completely over my head!!
WHHHOOOOSH AND DOUBLE WHOOOSH AINT IN IT!!!
i tried every trick in the book that i knew and even invented a few just for the sake of making absolutely sure it was out side my ability to achieve....not a chance in hell
the really strange and annoying part was that normally --if your persistant enough--you finally beging to understand what is happening and can find ways to make it work...in this case after a weeks solid hard core trail and error..i was no wiser at the end than i was when i made the first stab at it...hadn't learn't a thing..other than there is some sort of multiple redundancy thing going on where by the model will attempt to use a texture file even if you have removed that texture from the model file dat and completely removed any reference to it with a hex editor...(i made a few attempts trying to adapt an existing model rather than making a brand new one from scratch..thinking i could repaint the texture file on the adapted model file and cheat my way past the issue by utilising the allready existing texture mapping..doing a repaint to finish the job..lol must have been mad...not a chance...
weird beyond belief..!!
nice models tho keep trying maybe you'll get further than i did..
