Wikipedia says type 271 radar was on 32 corvettes by September 1941 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_271_radar so very possible. The RN actually prioritised corvettes over capital ships! The performance wasn't great but it was useful.

GWX whilst in many respects awesome can be prone to wormholes in the spacetime continuum, particularly when it comes to Fletcher class destroyers and Liberty ships. I think the modders realised they could not include every ship type so used some as generic placeholders for similar ships. It's only fair, as you can get a type XXI boat in 1944 if you have enough renown.
