Interesting story with the ship being in different time zones at the same time.
Re the link i have dived a bit myself and am usually not scared; but one of the first times in the mediterranean I was swimming at the surface snorkeling and comfortably looking down at rocks, sea urchins and fishes a meter beneath me, until I 'overshot' an edge and suddenly hovered above a vertical blue-black abyss, very much like some of the photos posted in your link. Really had to take a deep breath to overcome this frightening feeling.
