Everything seems fine as it loads to the menu, I get all the way to Start Patrol - the next screen gives me the option of where to start (docked or at sea) - I cleck next, the load bar gets all the way to the end then the game shuts down completely with no errors.
- I've tried running compatibility for XP and Vista. I've also checked SH4.exe isn't set to read only. Tried windowed mode on/off.
- My JSGME mods are FOTRSU 1.8 / FI-OQ fotrsu 1.8f upcPatch / 101 fotrsuv18 Fixpak
Running Windows 10 / 16gb Ram / RTX2070
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to SubSim Jex
Look in the Support folder of the FotRSU mod, and find the pdf files there. Lots of info. As KaleunMarco mentions, if you use the JSGME "Tasks" to get a copy of your mod list, it will show your install folder path, with could well be the issue if you are in the default folder of "C:\Program Files (x86)", which Windows will treat you most unkindly there, causing most all mods to fail. A re-install into a folder you create yourself might be in order. You also should have the 101 fotrsuv18 Fixpak 2nd in your mod list, else the FI-OQ might be partially overwritten by it. Since you crash as the 3D world is rendering, yet the game worked fine previously, you most likely have the DirectX v9.0c files loaded. However, you might have to mess further with the SH4.exe "Properties" settings on the Compatibility tab. Navigate into the game folder, right-click on SH4.exe, and choose "Properties" at the bottom of the context menu. Click on the Compatibility tab, and start trying various settings. What you end up using depends upon your computer hardware. Refer to
Post #216 in the Windows 10 thread above this one.
You also mention having SH4.exe write-enabled, but you do not mention if you used either
LAA (Large Address Aware) or the
4GB Patch on the SH4.exe file, which is what tells Windows that SH4 is 'qualified' to flat-address and access more than 1.96gb of your RAM. If not, then you are limited to a smaller "sandbox" that Windows give all of the 32-bit apps to play in. You
MUST have one or the other properly enabled on the SH4.exe, else FotRSU will not run.
You also do not mention whether you emptied the Save folder after activating FotRSU. That folder defaults to C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4. If you did not empty that folder, then you have a mix of Stock and FotRSU, which would crash upon loading. You must empty the Save folder, which is then re-created with the new data when you next run the game. You could also use
MultiSH4 v1.5 to create a new 3-character Save folder of your own naming...
These are the more common issues encountered by most folks, using most mods. However, as KM mentions, there are many more!!! It is best to post with more information about what you have or have not done with your install / Save folder...
