I disagree. An eye for an eye. Makes people think twice, such as the husband thinking about murdering his wife or vice versa, before they commit to something.

The way i see it, the death penalty has never stopped murders, even in countries with no appeal and instant execution of sentence. This is because people rarely commit such crimes with the expectation they'll be caught.

If criminal penalties have any effect at all then the prospect of spending the rest of ones life in the hell called prison is as much if not more of a deterrent.
