There will be blood
Most people's greatest fear is loss, the biggest loss being that of their own lives. We, as people, will always seek any explanation that steers towards existence being eternal.
The real problem comes for me that if the universe is this large, life must exist elsewhere. If *any* of this life evolved even only 1 million years before us (very little time on universal scale) and these beings, if they did not self-destruct before reaching technological maturity, were able to develop computer like technology. They would now easily be able to simulate the entire universe, including ourselves.
It is estimated that even with our current computing power, it would merely require a computing system the size of our moon, to simulate everything in the known universe.
The probability that you and I are in base reality, is almost zero.
