Just to put it in another perspective

There are people who joined the military because of 911 who are now retired from the military after serving a full career

There are people joining the military who were not alive when the 911 attacks occurred.

We may never forget, but the 911 attacks are becoming like pearl harbor... something that happened a "long time ago".
