well... they R mitey small but ablel to be seen by any microscope since the mid-1700's. They are a pioneer species; able to populate a new environment; and can withstand anything incl. empty space, radiation etc. that would kill most lifeforms. They may possibly be immortal as they can stop their metabolism as necessary!
