Most beautiful place, my discovery of this summer, I did not know it before since it is exactly the opposite direction I usually plan my tours to. Haltern am See, and around the Stausee Haltern and Hullener Stausee already were two gems of a discovery. The route from Haltern to Flaesheim that I picked was another revelation, fallen out of time and disconnected to the world. The Haard itself then almost knocked me out. I have long ways to bike from Münster getting there and then back again. But I know why I invest the effort. Its even better since both ways from and to I can find nice, abandoned routes through field and small forest landscapes, must not stick to Landstrassen. On days like that I am completely disconnecting from the rest of the world and my life and everything thta anmgers me usually. I drive alone, and I would not have it any differently. This is my "refugium in motion". 11 hours, 155km yesterdays. Several hours spend in the Haard alone, I even slept in some forsaken place under brushes and trees for an hour. Forests have the strangest effects on my usual behavior patterns...
Normally I would be way too much on my guard to do that.
