Rockin Robbins gave us three good attack profiles

The Dick O'Kane Attack

The John P. Cromwell Attack

The Vector Analysis Attack (my personal favorite) (in which the actual ranges don't matter... just the Course intercept angle and the periscope aiming bearing.)
... I used it to construct a spreadsheet for different torpedo speed / target speeds / Course Intercept Angle(s) / Periscope Lead Angle(s)
... very useful for quick medium range standoff attacks without waiting for specific course intercept angle(s) such as 45 or 90.

If I can find a way to upload the spreadsheet, I'll post it.
