Newton Knight, known for leading a band of Confederate deserters in the “Free State of Jones” that resisted the Confederacy during the American Civil War, has passed away.
Ship Losses:
Ojo Maru (Japan) The cargo ship collided with an Imperial Japanese Navy submarine off Yoshima, Shiwaku Islands and was beached.
