Well, the graphic anomaly would look more like "steam" than smoke, and would be narrower in its plume, so since that does look like a "smoke" effect, I would pull the mod from your mod, until you can find the link. I could not find anything obvious in a first look through the files. I have not looked at the subs' zon files though. The way you describe it, I would look in the conning tower files first.
