Okay here are screenshots, submerged below smoke is my sub at 300+ feet lol and it kept burning a while. Rest of patrol, talking from Jun 4- July 14 when I returned to port and ended patrol, could hear the fire crackle.
Fire ultimately caused 5 percent hull damage. So fire was out, but sound effect kept going, which I have noticed on AI surface ships.
Interesting enough...(see patrol logs page for full story and screen shot)
I stumbled across the SORYU on afternoon of June 4, damaged earlier in day by SBD dive bombers. Dead in water, could hear the fire sound, but no smoke. After few minutes of approach, when raised scope, could see fire and smoke. Continued to close heard a explosion, saw planes flying off deck. No US units around, this was the fire damaging the ship. I had to go deep to evade depth charges for six hours.
Of course I heard the SORYU exploding a few times. I would go to external cam to check and see a new fire and smoke plume. Last time I went "outside" to external cam was during a break when DD's appear to lose me and looked over the Soryu, which was down more by the stern to port than earlier, fired burning amidships.
I was back under attack so went back to interior view, did not come out while under attack (how I try to play realistically, when do leave camera on for battles etc) and at 1909 heard a very large series explosions, and groans of a ship breaking up. I went back to external cam to see the SORYU slipping beneath the waves.
This means the SORYU was hit during the attack at 1025-1039 by dive bombers and crippled, left burning and afloat. I did not make contact until 1500 or so, damaged already done. Ship burned and eventually sunk due to fire, pretty cool.
Just weird to have this on a player sub, never encountered before Would okay if on surface or if caused internal fires (Something, along with actually seeing flooding we were cheated out of ) but its silly to have external fire burning when 300 feet under water lol
