According to the study, the risk of heart muscle inflammation is increased in Denmark, especially in women between the ages of 12 and 39. This is surprising, incompatible with previous data and difficult to explain, writes medicine professor Walid Gellad from the University of Pittsburgh in the British Medical Journal about the results of the study. Overall, however, the study confirms what is already known about vaccine-associated myocarditis: "That it is rare, but it does exist."
In the study, the registered cases of cardiac muscle diseases after a corona vaccination were then related to myocarditis diseases that had occurred in non-vaccinated people during the same period, reports the Ärzteblatt. In this comparison, no significant increase was detectable after Biontech vaccinations, but with Moderna vaccinations the data indicated an approximately four times higher probability, according to the Ärzteblatt. However, most of the affected people were able to leave the hospital within 72 hours.
None of the people vaccinated with Moderna developed heart failure. The people vaccinated with Biontech developed one fatal heart failure. Of the 155 patients in the control group, seven suffered heart failure and three died. The risk of dying from myocarditis is therefore even lower for vaccinated people than for unvaccinated people.

A study published in the journal Nature comes to a similar conclusion. The researchers from Great Britain compared how often heart diseases occur after corona vaccinations and Covid-19 infections. The result of the study: the risk of having to be treated in hospital for myocarditis after being infected with the coronavirus is higher than after having a corona vaccination.
The research team led by Julia Hippisley-Cox from the University of Oxford examined whether there was more frequent heart muscle inflammation, pericarditis or cardiac arrhythmias in the first 28 days after a vaccination. To this end, the researchers analyzed data from Great Britain, such as the "Hospital Episode Statistics", which record all hospital diagnoses in Great Britain, as well as data on deaths and positive corona test results, reports the Ärzteblatt. Within 28 days of the first Biontech vaccination, an additional myocarditis disease occurred per million people. After a single vaccination with the Moderna vaccine, there were six cases per million people, after the second vaccination ten. However, the values were significantly higher after corona infections.
In the first 28 days after a positive test, there were 40 additional heart muscle diseases per million people. The researchers were only able to determine an increased risk of heart muscle inflammation after vaccinations with the mRNA vaccines in the age group under 40 years.
