King George V heads for the opening of Parliament to ratify the Anglo-Irish Treaty that will establish the Irish Free State.
U.S., U.K., France, and Japan sign the Four-Power Treaty at the Washington Naval Conference, agreeing to keep the status quo in the Pacific and to not interfere with the territories of the signatories.
Ship Losses:
Flevo 4 (United Kingdom) The coaster struck submerged wreckaged in the English Channel and foundered 9 nautical miles (17 km) west south west of the Royal Sovereign Lightship ( United Kingdom). Her crew were rescued by
Scuttle ( United Kingdom).
Jacov Sverdlov (United Kingdom) The cargo ship came ashore near Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She was refloated on 17 December.
Kathleen Lily (United Kingdom) The cargo ship ran aground at Helsinki, Finland and was abandoned.
Tarv (United Kingdom) The cargo ship was abandoned in the Irish Sea off Rathlin Island, County Antrim. She drifted ashore and was wrecked. She was declared a total loss on 1 February.
