I've thought about this before. It occurred to me that: given the fact that I can recite the lyrics to hundreds (if not thousands) of songs, I know
exactly where ~20,000 unique items of inventory are at my business, and I can even remember minute details about things that happened to me when I was as young as two years old (40 years ago), then the storage capacity of the human brain must be monumental.
Add to that the phenomenon of catching a scent [or other stimulus] that immediately takes you back to a memory that you didn't even know you had and the capacity seems nearly unlimited.
