actually, i piece of white thread, threaded from the underside of the wheel , in the center of the wheel,with a small needle works the best. the small knot at the end of the thread prevents the thread from poping thru the wheel, and makes a great bearing indicator.
this is a field expedient method. the thread should be long enough to reach alittle beyond the outer ring of the wheel.
