In a U-turn, Biden now supports a waiving of vaccine patents.

The US is an importing champion, depending on external exporters, namely China and India, delivering key products and ressources, from precious earths to medications and supplies for producing meds in US factories. Biden wants these economies coming up to terms again so that the US importing demands are no longer limited or under threat of collapsing (India, china).

The US also does not export vaccines, nor does it export ingredients for vaccines, a full ban for example to Europe and Germany is in place, threatening plans in Germany to produce additional vaccines like Curevac. Without productioin supplies form the US, this is not possible, and these supplies are ebign denied.

I am strictly against this idea. It rapes market logic, opens the door for further furture business expropriations, and brings in big state and planned economy.

It does not do anything for other countries to produce vaccines, because most do not have the needed knowhow and infrastructure anyway. And making vaccines is a tricky task. Even in the first world, producing them means to every couple of times creating a batch of vaccines that must be thrown away, because it is erratic.

It also betrays the producers, and threatens their willingness for future cooperation and future development - namely cost-intensive development of new antibiotics, and others. Why should they invest in these billions-costing projects when they must always live with the threat that the state once again steals the fruits of their investements in the name of a higher cause? Socialism also commits its crimes all in the name of the higher cause.

And many states now demanding to be given stuff for free: that now they have no money and organization often is due to corrupt home politlical structures, dysfunctional economic home structures, and incapability and unwillingness of own elites. I do not see why they should be given a free bail out from things they have to accept own responsibility for. Maybe stop investing into big wars and military shopping tours and even coinquest and terror - and instead into things of real importance?

Biden wants the wrong thing for the wrong reasons about which he does not tell the full truth. But the real reasons are national sefishness anyway. Has nothing to do with lovingly embracing a suffering world.

But people who have since years and years been brainwashed into the mental attitude of a teddybear of course love to believe that.

The EU's Super-Uschi also now wants it - just a very short time ago she has rejected any such demands with bitter determination. She has sniffed the scent of the times in the changing wind and sees a chance here to repair her damaged reputation by pleasing populistic demands. That it comes at the cost of certain parts of the industry having to face the blow from her PR campaign, just is typical for her behaviour's established record: saving her neck at the expense of all others and the institution's disadvantage. The longtemr consequence of the affected onduistry maybe not beign motivated anymore to invest into desperately needed research into new antibiotics, is being completely ignored both by Biden and Super-Uschji. And the WHO. And that could terribly backfire.
