Just wondering how many here have been forced to shoot it out with an armed ship (except Elcos or late-conflict Merchants - we've

) due to inability to dive?
I was playing the
Grey Wolves super-mod, and I was entering Scapa Flow on the surface in broad daylight (forgetting that radar, the naked eye, and hydrophones work through solid rock in
Silent Hunter III
). I was detected by a destroyer, and while trying to make my way out of the narrow passage I was in (the Southern-most of the Eastern passages), out of desperation I manned the VIIB's deck gun and ordered it to start shooting at the approaching destroyer.
The game ended as a tie. I grounded the sub once (u-turns in narrow passages are hard
), but ended up, fortunately, behind a barricade ship for cover as the destroyer closed in. Then my assailant ran herself aground and the game crashed.
