i can confirm that in the US Submarine Service two horn blasts is the signal to dive and three to surface. however, if the situation calls for it, there will be no signal to surface as "the word will be passed". just as the call to battle stations may be passed rather than signaled...and there are iterations of battle stations depending on the the impending situation. those situations are not used in the game.

keep in mind that just because you see something in a movie doesn't make it true.

if you have not noticed, the sounds are captured sounds from motion pictures and are re-used in snippets where the Ubi programmers thought appropriate. watch the movie U-571 and then go play SH4 on the US side. if you wish to substitute your own sounds, feel free to do so. The \Data\Sound subfolder has all of sound bites and SH.SDL is the index that is followed on when/where to execute the sound bites.

the game is what it is...a game. if you want reality, go enlist in the naval service of your choice.
