Add to the list a lack of geographical knowledge; two films, both released in 1968, made big geography blunders; John Wayne's, The Green Berets, ends with Wayne and a young boy walking off hand-in hand, on the beach, into the sunset, which is a nice dramatic ending except the area of Vietnam in which the film is set has no West-facing beaches, making the walk into the sunset impossible...

...then there is the film Krakatoa, East of Java, that had the unfortunate fate of being known more for the fact Krakatoa is West of Java, an error more well remembered than the movie, itself; the error was such an embarrassment to the film studio that years later when they re-released the movie, the title was changed to simply, The Volcano...
